As an RTS lover I am particularly pleased, if I can find a game in this genre for my mobile phone. Unfortunately RTS mobile games are a really rare thing. That may be because consumers wish to have simpler games for the cell phones, as you are playing the phone while moving and in my experience you need about 5-10 minutes for one level. Of course, this is for a real RTS game too little.
For RTS fans the long duration of the game is not a problem, because usually you may save the game to continue to play later.
Act of War (It is actually a game for the PC with the same name) is basically a simple strategy game. We must build a base here, gather the units and attack the enemy. However, if you are look at the strategy games for mobile screen sizes, we find that Act of War in comparison to other RTS games is quite well performed. A nice pseudo-3D graphics, a large number of different units and buildings make the game for RTS fans really interesting.
Here is a short game video:
Act of War
April 30th, 2009Tomb Raider Mobile
January 18th, 2009
In a few days I go to visit an old friend of mine, in Regensburg. That’s why I thought that it would be great to install a new game on my phone, so I could play a bit while I’m in the train. The journey takes almost four hours, so I was looking for a game that is really interesting.
There anniversary release of Tomb Raider was just right thing for me.
This game is a remakte Tomb Raider 1 Although this is a 2D game, but the game itself is very nicely drawn and reflect the atmosphere of the first part really well.
I am very happy with the game and can not wait when I can finally play the game. I have tried the game already, but I would like to wait with playing of the game before travel, because then the point of purchase would be not fulfilled.
Aqualife by Boge Interactive
December 16th, 2008Aqualife is a very funny mobile game that seems to be like the first phases of the game Spore. You occurs in the role of a small sea-creature and has to fight through by others, being smaller and therefore eat larger. You must try as quickly as possible to eat other creatures before another, larger creature eats you. On the end of the game you are so great that you are able to eat sharks. The great thing is that the end of the game is not immediately after the achievement of highest level, but you have the possibility to feel the power of your fish by eating of every creature that you can get.
Overall, the game Aqualife a successful game for minutes or even hours of boredom during driving in the bus or train.
Duke Nukem for Nseries
September 5th, 2008I found recently on the website My-Symbian.com a new game – Duke Nukem 3D.
Actually, for some people who have a computer at home since nineties, this game would be very well known. Duke Nukem 3D was a very successful game, where many new concepts were introduced, which later established as the standard. Moreover, the game has a good dose of humor.
The Symbian version of the game is therefore not a new development, but a very successful port by an unknown developer enthusiast. The control with a mobile phone keyboard is not so comfortable as a combination of PC keyboard and mouse, but it’s still really funny, to play this game on a mobile phone.
However, there is also bad news. According to user feedback on My-Symbian.com, the game suppports not all mobile phones, although those phones had S60 3rd as the operating system. Moreover, it seems that some cell phones arfe not able to display the game in full-screen mode.
But I would suggest to try it in any case, because it is a really good and free game.
Dune + Civilization = Revival
July 23rd, 2008Strategy is one of the best genres of games that are playable on mobile phones. But the choice of tactics games is unfortunately not so big as I would wish me.
Perhaps because of that reason I was very pleased when I discovered the game „Revival“.
This is a strategy game, where you take the role of an emissary of a well-developed of the seven races. You will be sent to the one of the many planets of a galaxy, in order to build a civilization there. Each planet consists of several types of zones. Each zone type hides different types of resources. The most important are: gold, iron and food. Of course, you should be able to manage these resources as efficiently as possible like in any other game of this type. The profit of resources can be accelerated by constructing of appropriated buildings at certain locations. Depending on the the evolution progress, the cities will be greater, the number of units increase in a geometric progression, making it very difficult to continue playing the role of the leader. You will always need more time to make a few new steps. I find this very positive, because you will need much time to finish all missions. The fun of the game goes not so fast away, like in some other games of the case.
The only thing that disappointed me in the game was the graphics. This is really primitive and although the graphics in the strategy games plays a subordinate role, I would wish me a bit more for this game.
